Notes & News... October 2008
Our knitters have something to smile about as we celebrate “Socktober” at Marmee’s Heirlooms. We’re focusing on socks: with open classes, demonstrations, collected wisdom, and a sock knit along on the last two Saturdays of the month, October 18 and 25. Check our class schedule, which will include our “Socktober” offerings, plus coupons and special discounts. You’ll also find our other classes scheduled for October, November & December.
NEW YARNS:
We’re already carrying a small selection of Opal sock yarns, including the heavier (6 fach) “Blues.” You’ll be seeing more Opal sock yarns here as the newest color collections become available.
Also ordered (but not yet arrived as I’m writing this) are Noro Silk Garden Sock yarns. We’re excited to be adding Noro Kureyon, Silk Garden, and Kureyon Sock to our yarn collection here at Marmee’s Heirlooms.
If you haven’t been in the store for a while you’ll notice that things are changed around a bit. We think it makes it a little easier to see our yarns, but some of the fabrics have moved out of the main display room. They are all still here, and we’re working on a better way to display them and the many books that we carry. Suggestions are welcomed!
A Blue Ribbon Note: Anne Belknap, a knitter who has found a new love in Crazy Quilt embroidery, won a blue ribbon for her stitching on her “Blues Brother” Crazy Cat doorstop at the Cuyahoga County Fair this past August. We’re very proud of her! For those interested in fancy stitching, we have two “Crazy Cat” patterns available, for use as doorstops or pillows.
Finally, a personal note from Martha: I want to thank all my customers for their patience and forbearance with our sketchy hours this past winter & spring. The kindness and support of so many of you has meant more to me than I could ever express.
Marmee’s Heirlooms is back with regular hours now, and working to provide the finest products and personal service possible.
